Peach Harvest
As a gardener, one of the things I've always longed for was to have fruit trees. Somehow, there's something ultra satisfying about the possibility of harvesting baskets and baskets of fruit. Maybe even opening up the opportunity to can--make some preserves, chutneys, even exotic relishes.

Hanging Out at the Farmer's Market
I just realized that I've been so busy with life, that I've neglected any postings in a good while. What's been going on here is a bit of a heatwave. It seems that in one fell swoop, actually, one laundry basket, we've gone from cool, chilly mornings where a long sleeve shirt or sweater was a mandatory piece of attire, straight to shorts, tank tops, and really, wearing a swimsuit from morning until night.

Pork Chop Sandwiches at Earth's End
So, it's been a bit of a span since I last posted...what can I say? Spring is spinning to a close and there has been so much to see and so much to do.
Last Thursday, Ken and I decided to make use of the Big Sur hiking book that Santa stuffed in my stocking this past Christmas, so early that morning we decided to load ourselves into the car and head up Highway 1 to the Southern end of Big Sur.

Up the Coast to San Simeon
Last Thursday, we spent the morning debating about whether or not we wanted to load ourselves into the car and take off on a drive. By early afternoon we were finished with talking about it and decided to just do it, so off we went. The first thought was to head down the 101 South toward Santa Margarita Lake and go on a back country drive, which is exactly how our ride started. Unfortunately, after cruising through the little town, replete with antique stores, a restaurant and a garden nursery, we misread the signage and instead of turning right, kept on straight--straight back to where we had started, albeit the back way.
